Built to be different.
Fortis Technologies exists because small and mid-sized businesses deserve IT that's modern, personal, and actually built for them — not recycled from a template and sold at enterprise prices. We started this company to fix what's broken in how IT gets done.
Why Fortis exists. Because good enough IT isn't good enough.
We started Fortis Technologies after spending years walking into small and mid-sized businesses and seeing the same thing — IT held together with duct tape. Outdated servers shoved into closets. Security policies that didn't exist. Employees working around broken systems because "that's just how it's always been."
It wasn't a resource problem. These businesses had the budget. They just didn't have anyone building IT the right way — with modern tools, real strategy, and infrastructure designed for how teams actually work today. Instead, they were getting cookie-cutter solutions resold from the same playbooks that haven't changed in fifteen years.
We built Fortis to change that. Every environment we touch is designed from scratch around the business it supports — not copied from a template, not driven by vendor kickbacks, not overcomplicated to justify a bigger invoice. We surround ourselves with sharp people, stay close to the cutting edge, and bring that knowledge directly to the businesses that need it most.
This company is also a personal challenge. Building something real, networking with business leaders who think differently, and proving that a small, focused team can deliver enterprise-grade results without the enterprise overhead. That's the bet — and we're all in.
What we believe. How we make decisions.
These aren't core values on a poster. They're how we make decisions, build systems, and show up for our clients.
Strength Over Shortcuts
Fortis means strong. We don't cut corners on architecture to save a few hours. Every system we deploy is built to hold weight — today and five years from now.
Modern by Default
Legacy systems and outdated methods don't get a pass just because they're familiar. We build with modern identity platforms, cloud-native tools, and current security frameworks — because your business deserves infrastructure from this decade.
Nothing Cookie-Cutter
Every business is different. We don't resell the same stack to every client and call it "managed IT." Environments are scoped, designed, and built around your operations — not our convenience.
Plain Language, Always
If we can't explain it clearly, we don't understand it well enough. No jargon walls. No complexity theater. You'll always know what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what it costs.
Security Is Architecture
Security isn't a product you bolt on. It's how you design identity, configure access, encrypt data, and enforce policy from day one. We build it into the foundation — not the afterthought.
Reliable Means Invisible
The best IT is the kind your team never thinks about. Systems stay up. Devices stay current. Issues get resolved before they become outages. When we're doing our job right, you forget we're there.
Who you'll work with.
A small, focused team that knows your environment — not a rotating cast of techs you've never met.
Kaden Hern
Kaden has been in IT his entire life — even if it started with video games and a dream of building them. That early obsession with how systems work evolved into a career in infrastructure, identity, and modern IT operations. He holds a Management Information Systems degree from Oklahoma State University and has spent 4+ years working hands-on with the tools and platforms that define modern enterprise IT — cloud environments, endpoint management, identity systems, and the emerging AI landscape reshaping how businesses operate.
He founded Fortis Technologies because he kept seeing the same problem: small and mid-sized businesses getting sold outdated IT by providers who weren't keeping up. Kaden builds every engagement around one standard — would he trust this system to run his own business? If the answer isn't yes, it doesn't ship.
Madi Hern
Madi keeps Fortis running. As Co-Founder and COO, she manages the operational backbone of the business — client communications, project coordination, scheduling, and the day-to-day logistics that keep engagements moving on time and on scope. While Kaden is in the infrastructure, Madi makes sure every client touchpoint is organized, responsive, and human.
Together, they built Fortis from the ground up with a shared belief: businesses deserve better than what most IT providers are offering — and a small team that actually cares will always outperform a big one that doesn't.
Fortis at a glance.
The strength-first approach.
Three pillars. Every engagement. No exceptions.
Security First
Every system we build starts with security as the foundation — not the finish line. Identity policies, access controls, encryption, and compliance baselines are configured before your team ever touches a device.
Full-Spectrum IT
We don't do one thing. We manage devices, build infrastructure, design websites, and connect it all into a single managed environment. One partner, full visibility, no gaps between vendors.
Transparent Support
No ticket black holes. No jargon-filled status updates. No surprise invoices. You'll always know what we're doing, what it costs, and when it'll be done.
Trusted by businesses that expect more.

“Working with Fortis doesn't feel like working with an IT vendor. It feels like having a CTO on speed dial. They understand our business, they move fast, and they never make us feel dumb for asking questions. That matters more than people realize.”
